The death has occurred of Rev. Fr. Thomas O’Shea, PE, Ballylinan, Co Laois / Coolnamara, Borris, Co Carlow / Athy, Co Kildare

Fr Tommy passed away peacefully on Friday, 21st February, 2025. Predeceased by his parents James and Bridget, his brother Paddy and his sister Mary. Dearly loved and sadly missed by his sister Kathy, his brothers Shem and Liam, nieces and nephews Derek, Barry, Rory, Patrick, Kevin, Anthony, Una, Marina, Alan, Fergal, Philip, Deirdre, Seamus, Paul, Niall, Edel, Ciarán and their families, Bishop Denis Nulty and the Clergy of the Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin, his parishioners and a wide circle of friends.

Rest in Peace

Fr Tommy will lie in repose in St Anne’s Church, Ballylinan, Co Laois, on Saturday, 22nd February 2025, from 2:00 pm with Funeral Reception and Mass at 7:30 pm. Requiem Mass will take place on Sunday, 23rd February 2025, at 2:00 pm. Interment immediately afterwards in Ballylinan Cemetery.

The death has occurred of Frances Kenny, Palmerstown, Kilkenny City / Borris, Co Carlow.

Frances passed away peacefully at Borris Lodge Nursing Home on Wednesday, 19th February 2025. Sadly missed by her nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Funeral will arrive at the Sacred Heart Church, Borris, for Requiem Mass at 11:00 am on Friday morning, 21st February 2025, followed by private cremation afterwards.

The death has occurred of Margaret (Maggie) Joyce (née Waters), Rathgeran, Ballymurphy, Borris, Co Carlow

Maggie passed away peacefully in Borris Lodge Nursing Home on 17th February 2025. Pre-deceased by her loving husband John and baby daughter Helen. Sadly missed by her daughters and sons Anne (Whelan), Mary (Kelly), Peggy (Ward), John, Michael, Patrick, Nicholas and Thomas, her daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, twenty-one grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, friends and neighbours. Pre-deceased by her sisters Stacia, Mary, Helen and brother John.

Reposing at Joyce’s Funeral Home, Borris (R95 DV76) from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm on Monday, 17th February 2025, and on Tuesday, 18th February 2025, from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm. Funeral will depart from the Funeral Home at 6:30 p.m. and will arrive at St Patrick’s Church, Ballymurphy for Reception Prayers at 7:00 pm on Tuesday. Maggie’s Requiem Mass will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday morning, 19th February 2025, followed by interment immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Bridget Dalton (née Doyle), Goolin

The death has occurred of Bridget Dalton (née Doyle), Goolin, Borris, Co Carlow.

Bridget passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny, on Monday, 17th February 2025. Sadly missed by her husband Jim, sons Michael and Francis, daughter Triona, adored grandchildren Emma, Aoife, James and Tom, her son-in-law Paul and daughters-in-law Kathleen and Francesca, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends.

Reposing at Breen’s Funeral Home, Borris, (R95 Y6N9), from 5:00 pm today, Tuesday, 18th February 2025 until 8:00 pm. Also on Wednesday, 19th February 2025 from 2:00 pm with Removal at 7:00 pm to St Moling’s Church, Glynn, (R95 HY49), for Reception Prayers at 7:30 pm. Bridget’s Requiem Mass will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, 20th February 2025, followed by interment in Ballymurphy Cemetery, (R95 HR28).
